Choosing & shaping fractals
A tour of the 2D and 3D fractal types and the controls that reshape them — seed, geometry, palette, glow, and (in 2D) custom brush shapes.

What you'll learn
- Cycle through the 2D types and change seed and parameters live
- Switch to 3D and orbit the camera with lighting, fog, and glow
- Set color with hue start/span, saturation, and a random-palette button
- Swap 2D brush shapes and import an SVG to draw from a custom mark
Step by step
- Explore the 2D types. Cycle through the 2D types — spiral, phyllotaxis, Julia — and change the seed and parameters live to reshape each one.
- Go 3D. Switch to a 3D type like the Mandelbulb, Mandelbox, or gyroid. Orbit the camera and adjust lighting, fog, and glow to set the mood.
- Set the color. Dial hue start and span, saturation, and animated hue, or hit the random-palette button to find a look fast.
- Use a custom brush. In 2D, swap the stamp shape, or import an SVG so the fractal is drawn from your own mark.
