Getting started with Spiralyst Lab

Install, first launch, and the lay of the land — the canvas, the four sidebar tabs, and a fractal reacting to sound in about 90 seconds.

The video covers these steps end-to-end — narration follows along:

Open spiralyst.com in your browser.
In the top menu, open Download and click Download for macOS.
Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Spiralyst Lab onto the Applications shortcut.
Launch Spiralyst Lab from Applications. macOS will confirm the app was downloaded from the internet — click Open.
Accept the End-User License Agreement, then enter your serial number — or continue with the software trial.
On the Source tab, choose System audio and activate it. Spiralyst Lab will listen to any app making sound on your Mac.
Play sound from another app (a browser tab, GarageBand, anything). The levels begin to register in Spiralyst Lab.
Switch to the Visual tab. Click the speaker icon next to any parameter to bind a sound-reactive audio filter.
Once it's dialed in, save the audio band filter from the same menu to reuse on other parameters.
